We have talked to many people about adoption in general, as well as our personal adoption journey. As we’ve said many times, we are very open to talking about what is involved and what the expenses are. Because we find ourselves talking about adoption with random people at various locations and times, we created a card that points people to our adoption updates profile page. It’s very convenient, and we find that many people enjoy reading our perspective of the process, whether or not they wish to contribute financially.

As we created these cards, we wanted to include a visual representation of adoption. This would be something that helps us identify with the adoption community, both locally and globally. It honestly did not take long to find this symbol, but we were happy to find it! The symbol is considered an “unofficial” logo for adoption, but we’ve chosen it for our family.

The Adoption Symbol is a heart interwoven with a triangle. The triangle represents the linked relationship of the birth family, the adoptive family, and the adoptee. The entwined heart illustrates the love involved in the act and process of adoption. It’s amazing the love you develop for your future child even before you’ve met him or her.

We are nearing the end of the beginning stage, which is all the paperwork required for our international dossier. It’s exciting to see this puzzle come together! For those who have joined in this journey, whether you are part of the process itself, partnered with us in prayer, or contributed through financial assistance—thank you! We look forward to meeting who God has planned to become part of our family.
