Sometimes we miss the simple days—minimal bills, no kids, relaxation on the weekends. Work from all angles has been crazy busy this year. I (Brian) have been burning the candle at both ends to get projects out the door on time. While I’ve had engineer designs come to a close, they just transition to construction as more designs begin/continue. Supposedly, workload is supposed to slow down as we head into summer.
In addition to the farmer’s market booth every weekend, Liisa has been booking several special events. I get to see many of the beautiful designs that she creates for people’s special days. This summer she will be getting a concession trailer that we’ll be able to use at markets, fairs, and other events. We look forward to the opportunities this will open for Liisa’s business.
In the middle of all the goings-on, I’ve taken five days off from work this spring on random weekends to break up the workload. At the same time, I’ve worked so much in those weeks that I did not need to log time off. This past weekend, I had a work conference Friday and day off on Monday. The long weekend was great! It sure is difficult going back to the office though after a long weekend. During these break times I try to focus on getting rest, having quality family time, and deliberately not even think about work.
Life gets busy! But it’s important to not burn out. Breaks are good; family is important; all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Thank you for your blog. I look forward to reading it each time. I am so happy to hear that you were able to get a much needed break!!
