We have an avid learner over here who is learning to read and write, and she loves it! Jasmine is thrilled with First Grade and loves to demonstrate her ability to read words when she can. Of course, we her parents are terrified that we can no longer depend on her inability to NOT read what we carry, write, or set down on the counter. But we are also very proud of our little first grader.
Jasmine also loves to show us her writing homework. Handwriting is more like an art to her, and she gets frustrated when letters don’t form perfectly on paper. I may get a little enjoyment out of pointing out that her hand is doing the writing, but it’s good to see our almost 6-yr-old taking her schoolwork so seriously. We always say that as long as she’s doing her best, we are happy with her work.
One of our latest annoyances is how Jasmine takes a very long time to watch her school videos. Somehow 3 hours of video takes 8 hours. In a random conversation yesterday, Jasmine mentioned that she loves her teacher and videos so much that she sometimes watches them 2 or 3 times… light bulb! 💡 As much as we like her enjoying her school, we also need it done in a timely manner, so we may have had a little talk about watching videos only ONE time (although we love doing school!).
Our little one is growing, and we’re trying to keep up. It’s ok, but we’re only losing a little hair over it.
