Life is a marathon, is it not? Something to do here, busy there–oh, and now run back here. The past several weeks I have started blog posts, but by the time I return to finish, the content is no longer relevant or interesting enough to finish. We have yet to find the right rhythm for keeping our blog updated. This is partly because we are SO BUSY. We do not consider ourselves to be popular people, but somehow we still find ourselves stretching time to cram in more things and more people.

At this point in time, we are wrapping up our adoption paperwork; we are planning a bakery business (which by the way, will debut at the Farmers Market this weekend); and we are helping the brother of a dear friend figure out what to do with her belongings while she lies in a coma on her deathbed. Meanwhile, the clock keeps ticking.

That’s right now. And then there is whatever is coming next.

Will our banner get here in time for the Farmer’s Market? How should we teach the lesson in Sunday School this weekend? How am I going to meet my deadlines at work? At some point I’m going to need to replace the tires on my car because they spun out on the wet pavement at an intersection yesterday. (Granted, it hasn’t rained in a long time, and it has been really hot lately.)

Two things help in life: a partner and God. Boy am I blessed to have a juggling partner. Liisa is an amazing and fun wife to do life with. We do everything together, make decisions together, and plan together. But the most important time of my day is when I sit down with my Bible in the morning and talk to God about life. He is in control and helps me order my steps in the hours and days ahead.

How is your marathon going? Don’t forget to talk to God about it and trust him with your future.
